You + this strategy = higher rankings

But first, a quick story:
April 24th, 2012 started like any other day.
Like I did every afternoon, I popped open my laptop to check my Analytics.
But this wasn’t going to be like any other day...
I couldn’t believe what I saw on my screen. I rubbed my eyes in disbelief.
But there was no mistaking it:
I was toast. My rankings had tanked.
Turns out that I was far from alone.
Google released its now-famous “Penguin” update that day, which penalized thousands of sites overnight.
I thought to myself:
“This is the 6th time Google has wiped you out. Maybe it's time to give up on this SEO thing and try something new.”
But there was this tingle in the back of my brain that wouldn’t go away.
Yes, just like Spidey Sense :-)
I felt like I was this close to a breakthrough. So close that I could almost reach out and touch it.
But I couldn’t wrap my head around why I was struggling.
After all, I was following all of the advice that I read on forums and blogs.
Then it hit me...
A revelation that changed my business forever.
And that revelation has evolved into the Do The Opposite Framework that I rely on today.
So:
I launched a new website soon after that fateful day in April. A website in a “boring” niche.
Thanks to the Do The Opposite Framework, that site went from zero to 10k/month in revenue in 120 days.
And when I applied this framework to Backlinko, I found myself consistently outranking huge sites like Forbes and Copyblogger.
(Want to see an example? Just Google “on page SEO” or “keyword research”)
So what is the Do The Opposite Framework?
It’s very simple:
“If you follow the same SEO advice as everyone else, there’s no way you can win. That’s because you’re playing the game by the same rules as everyone else (including big brands).
But with the Do The Opposite Framework, you do the opposite of everyone else. That’s the key to beating your competitors in Google.”
Another example:
When I launched my “boring” site, I realized that I was going head-to-head against massive personal finance websites.
Most of the SEO advice I read said: "the key to SEO is to keep your site regularly updated with 300-500 word blog posts.”
But I was a one man show. I had zero chance against these big brands in a game of content volume.
So I did the opposite.
I published in-depth guides and product reviews on a monthly schedule.
And it worked. The site quickly leapfrogged the big brands that were pumping out five articles every day.
It’s the same story when I first started Backlinko in 2013.
Most SEO “experts” said that link building was “dead” and that I should focus on social signals.
So I did the opposite.
I focused almost 100% on link building.
Even though Backlinko was a brand new site, I quickly zoomed to the first page for super-competitive keywords like “backlinks”.
The question is:
How can you use the Do The Opposite Framework to get higher rankings and more targeted traffic?
Well I’m excited to let you know that, over the next few emails, I'll show you how you can create an effective SEO strategy for your business.
You’ll get access to step-by-step processes, downloadable training material and a new case study.
But for now:
It only takes a sec.
Next week I’ll send you real-life examples of people that are getting higher rankings thanks to the Do The Opposite Framework.
See you then.
